Melanie is a fine art artist who works with variety of mediums.

“I FELL IN LOVE WITH PAINTING THE FIRST TIME I TRIED IT.”

I fell in love with painting the first time I squeezed the oil paint out of the tube and put a brush to the canvas. Today, decades later, I am still in awe of how colors and shapes influence each other and speak to you. I record my reactions to a lived experience through art.

I learn about the world by translating complex ideas into an abstract form. Each painting evolves slowly as I experiment with ways to express my reactions to my research collected at the onset of a series and work out my ideas on the canvas.

The imagery that comes forth is an elusive answer to my initial inquisition. What I love most about this process is that each piece I create is a mystery to me. 

My current series investigates the invisible energy between things that we feel but can’t see. These paintings deal with the energies of thoughts, the cosmos, and chakras. Each piece starts with extensive research on the subject. I then explore the concepts uncovered during the research and intuitively find the shape and expression of the subject as I paint.
