Luca Trujillo

Luca Isa Trujillo (They/Them) is a Minneapolis-based artist working with the connections between fiber arts, sculpture, filmmaking, and stop-motion animation. Their work spans fiber-based animations, paper-mache puppetry, textile sculpture, and experimental storytelling across these mediums. Luca engages with fiber art and filmmaking as a sensory experience, creating animations rooted in intricate visual texture, sensations of the body, and dance-like movement. These projects explore the tender and challenging intersections between emotional realms, human bonds, queerness, religion, play, and the body. Luca graduated from St. Olaf College where they studied Studio Art and Film and Media Studies, and completed the St. Olaf Emerging Artist Program 2024-25. They are currently a part of the Incubator Residency at Public Functionary in Minneapolis. Luca’s work has been exhibited at Public Functionary, Q.arma Building Gallery, Flaten Art Museum, and the Northfield Arts Guild. Their films have been screened in the Serpentina Film Festival, Cinefilmu Film Festival, and Franconia Sculpture Park.
