Class Description

Designed for students with prior wheel-throwing experience, this studio class builds on foundational skills while introducing more advanced forms, techniques, and creative challenges. Through demonstrations and guided practice, students will refine their ability to center larger amounts of clay, throw with greater consistency, and create more complex functional and sculptural pieces.

Projects may include lidded vessels, pitchers, teapots, altered forms, larger bowls, sets of matching tableware, and multi-part constructions. Students will also explore trimming, handles, surface decoration, glazing, and methods for developing a cohesive body of work.

With an emphasis on craftsmanship, problem-solving, and individual artistic growth, this class encourages students to push their technical abilities while developing their own creative voice in the ceramic studio. Ideal for returning students who are ready to move beyond the basics and deepen their wheel-throwing practice.
