Dubby Ludcke
Dubby Ludcke is a Minneapolis-based artist whose work spans painting, filmmaking, photography, and design. For over fifteen years, he’s been known for his commissioned portraits of people and pets—work that blends skill with a deep sense of personality. He studied filmmaking at the Academy of Art College in San Francisco and the School of Visual Arts in New York, where he also developed a passion for spray-painting that still influences his art today.
As a filmmaker, Dubby was the producer and cinematographer for Invisible Valley (2021), an award-winning documentary that opened the Santa Barbara International Film Festival. While he plans to return to filmmaking in the future, he’s currently focused on an abstract body of paintings for upcoming Twin Cities gallery shows.
With students, Dubby is the kind, approachable “big brother” who makes art feel both exciting and accessible. Kids love his humor, patience, and genuine care, and he has a natural ability to guide them through creative risks with confidence. Whether sharing spray-paint techniques or behind-the-scenes film stories, he inspires young artists to see the world differently—and to create work that feels authentically their own.
